Paperback Verified download. I used this book while taking my Petrology class. It was a life saver! When I was a teaching assistant a year later, my students found the information very informative and useful in the lab. The description of textures is great for beginners and for advanced student review.

One person found this helpful. This atlas is a great resource and supplement to other 'atlases' of rocks and minerals in thin section. The micrographs are excellent quality and the descriptions are excellent.
No such book can be comprehensive but this atlas covers a broad variety of igneous rocks and includes some unusual rocks that most geologists will never encounter.
There is an added bonus: Amazing book with great detail and pictures , if you are a geology student this is a wonderful book especially for petrology labs. See all 3 reviews.
